Neutral Busbar

A neutral bar is a conductive metal rail designed for centralized termination of neutral conductors (N-line) in low-voltage distribution systems. As a critical component in distribution panels, switchgear, and control cabinets, it enables neutral line consolidation, branch distribution, and grounding protection—particularly essential in TN-S, TN-C-S, and TT earthing systems.

1. Core Functions

  • Neutral Line Aggregation
    • Collects N-conductors from multiple circuits (e.g., lighting, sockets) into a single node.

    • In TN-C-S systems, links to the main earth bar (PE bar) for combined PEN functionality.

    • Provides a low-impedance return path for unbalanced currents (critical for RCD/GFCI operation).

2. Key Applications

  • Low-Voltage Power Distribution
    • TN-S/TT Systems: Central hub for all circuit neutrals (e.g., 63A~400A rated).

    • Earth Bonding: Interfaces with PE bar via copper jumpers (≥10mm² cross-section).

  • Building Electrical Systems
    • Residential Panels: Distributes neutrals for lighting/socket circuits (e.g., DIN rail-mounted bars).

    • Riser Busways: Neutral connection point for vertical bus ducts in high-rises.

  • Industrial Control
    • PLC/Drive Cabinets: Centralized neutral management (isolated bars with IP20 protection).

    • Harmonic Mitigation: Double-layer bars for separating linear/non-linear load neutrals.

  • Renewable Energy
    • PV Inverters: AC-side neutral busbar (often integrated with surge protection).

    • BESS: Neutral reference point in battery storage systems.
